Abundant Supply, Prioritizing Vietnamese Goods and "Healthy" Products

  • Inventory Increase: The Department of Industry and Trade has worked with major distribution systems to build reserve plans for essential goods. Businesses have increased average reserves by about 10–12% compared to the previous Tet and by 30–50% compared to normal consumption levels.
  • Specific Retailers: BRG Mart imported goods early with reserves increasing threefold compared to the same period last year, committing to price stability near Tet. op Mart Hai Phongmaintains its strategy of supporting domestic goods, with over 90% of its products being locally manufactured.
  • New Consumer Trends: This year, consumers are shifting toward health-boosting products, non-alcoholic beverages, and "healthy" foods (low sugar, diet foods). Agricultural products with VietGAP and GlobalGAP certifications, along with local specialties, are leading market purchasing power.

Stimulating Consumption with Large Promotions

At large shopping malls like AEON MALL Hai Phong Le Chan, the shopping atmosphere is vibrant with a wide range of products and price segments suitable for various customers. The “Full Tet Shopping, Joyful Spring Celebration” program offers discounts of up to 50% on many essentials, candies, and Tet jams from January 8 to February 8. Clear price listings and these promotions help consumers manage their year-end spending more easily.

Decisive Action Against Smuggling and Trade Fraud

Alongside price stabilization, city authorities have intensified peak inspection and control periods before, during, and after Tet.

According to the Market Management Bureau (under the Department of Industry and Trade), from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026, the unit inspected 145 cases and handled 122 violations, with total administrative fines reaching nearly 1.4 billion VND. Key violations include:

  • Smuggling and transporting prohibited or smuggled goods.
  • Manufacturing and trading counterfeit or low-quality goods, and intellectual property infringements.
  • Goods of unknown origin or violations of food safety and hygiene regulations.

Mr. Do Tat Dat, Deputy Head of the City Market Management Bureau, stated that market management forces are coordinating closely with the police, customs, border guards, and coast guard to thoroughly prevent violations on key routes and locations. Inspections are focused on essential items such as food, alcohol, beer, and fashion to protect consumer rights.

With thorough preparation and decisive control efforts, Hai Phong aims to ensure a stable, high-quality market with reasonable prices so that residents can enjoy a safe and healthy Binh Ngo Tet.
