To celebrate major national holidays and promote physical training, the Hai Phong City People's Committee has issued Official Dispatch No. 2286/VP-NC to approve the "Olympic Running Day - For Public Health - For National Security" 2026. This large-scale sports event will be implemented synchronously from the city level to 100% of communes, wards, and special zones across the city.

An Event of Deep Political and Social Significance
The 2026 Olympic Running Day is more than just a sports activity; it carries significant political meaning, celebrating the election of the 16th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. It also commemorates major historical milestones: the 80th anniversary of the People's Security Force (July 12, 1946 – July 12, 2026) and the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's Physical Training and Sports industry (March 27, 1946 – March 27, 2026). Through this activity, the city aims to inspire sportsmanship and improve the physical health of officials, soldiers, and citizens, effectively implementing the "All people practice body following the example of Great Uncle Ho" movement.
Scale and Implementation Route
The event is scheduled to take place nationwide and in Hai Phong from 06:30 to 10:30 on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
- City Level: The ceremony will be held at the Central Square of the City Opera House (No. 28 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hong Bang District) with approximately 6,000 participants. Participants include city leaders, officials from various departments, armed forces, students, and citizens from all walks of life.
- Companion Run Route (2.0 km): The group will start at the Opera House Square and proceed through Quang Trung Street – Trien lam (Exhibition) Street – Nguyen Duc Canh Street – Tran Phu Street – Minh Khai Street – Tran Hung Dao Street, returning to the finish line at the Square.
- Commune, Ward, and Special Zone Levels: Local police units will advise governments to organize events at central areas for 200 to 500 people per unit, with running distances ranging from 1.5 km to 2.0 km.
Close Coordination to Ensure Absolute Safety
To ensure a solemn and safe event, the City People's Committee has assigned the City Police to lead and coordinate with the Department of Culture and Sports and other relevant units. Specific tasks have been assigned to professional agencies:
- The Department of Education and Training will mobilize at least 3,000 students.
- The Department of Health will provide medical vehicles and staff for emergency services at the venues.
- The Department of Agriculture and Environment will ensure sanitation at the square area before and after the ceremony.
- Propaganda will be intensified on social media and mass media to spread the excitement to all citizens.
Regarding attire, participants are encouraged to wear sportswear and sneakers, with priority given to shirts featuring the red flag with a yellow star to create a vibrant image of patriotism and solidarity.
