Hai Phong TIL International Terminal Officially Begins Operations with First Commercial Vessel Arrival

On the afternoon of April 16, the MSC MAKALU III— the first commercial vessel on MSC’s Orchid service route — docked at Berth 3 and 4 of the TIL International Terminal at Hai Phong Port (HTIT). This milestone officially inaugurates the new international container terminal, boosting Hai Phong’s cargo clearance capacity and elevating its logistics position on both regional and global maritime maps.

TIL International Port Management welcomes the crew of MSC MAKALU III.

The MSC MAKALU III measures 210 meters in length, with a tonnage of 38,629 tons, and carries 484 import containers, equivalent to 829 TEUs. Successfully welcoming this vessel not only marks the commencement of commercial operations at the terminal, but also confirms HTIT’s capability to accommodate large-tonnage ships, affirming its readiness to participate deeply in the global maritime supply chain.

HTIT is one of five ports directly managed and operated by Hai Phong Port JSC. Once fully operational, TIL International Terminal (HTIT) will significantly increase the market share of Hai Phong Port JSC— raising its share to approximately 40% in containerized cargo and 60% in non-container cargo within the region.

In March 2025, Hai Phong Port recorded consolidated cargo throughput of 3.29 million tons and revenue of 227.37 billion VND, surpassing the plan by 19%. As it moves into Q2 2025, the port is implementing additional measures to ramp up service marketing efforts, maintain and expand connections with domestic and international shipping lines. At the same time, the terminal is focusing on optimizing berth operations and enhancing service quality to better meet customer demand and sustain its growth momentum.
