In the jubilant atmosphere of celebrating major holidays in April and May, especially the 71st anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2026) and the 2026 Red Flamboyant Festival, Hai Phong City made a historic mark by organizing the simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of 14 key projects and works at 13 locations across the city and regional linkage areas. This is a strong move affirming the determination of the City's Party Committee, government, and people to accelerate infrastructure progress and create motivation to promote sustainable economic growth.

The event took place on the afternoon of May 14, 2026, in a combined in-person and online format on Hai Phong Television. At the main location in Do Son ward, the city solemnly organized the Inauguration Ceremony for the Project to invest in, renovate, and restore the K15 Wharf relic complex. This is not just an architectural work but also a symbol of gratitude, preserving the historical value of the legendary "Ho Chi Minh Road at Sea," and contributing to revolutionary tradition education for future generations.
Also in this series of events, in Hai An ward, the city held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Cat Bi Victory Monument construction project at Cat Bi International Airport. The project promises to become an important cultural and architectural highlight, welcoming tourists when they arrive in the beautiful port city.
2. Breakthrough in Transport Infrastructure and Regional LinkagesIdentifying transport as the "bloodline" of the economy, Hai Phong commenced a series of strategic transport infrastructure projects. Most notable is the investment project to build the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong Expressway, specifically the section passing through the city and 09km in old Thai Binh province (now part of the new linkage area), along with the construction of Van Uc 2 Bridge. This is a crucial link in completing the coastal economic corridor, shortening the trade distance between provinces in the Red River Delta.
Additionally, projects connecting the inner city and inter-communes are also emphasized with the groundbreaking of the road connecting National Highway 5 and National Highway 10 passing through Vinh Bao town and Kien An ward. These projects are expected to definitively resolve traffic bottlenecks and create new urban development space for localities.
3. Industrial Infrastructure: A "Magnet" for InvestmentIn the strategy to become a modern industrial center, Hai Phong and neighboring localities simultaneously commenced many large-scale industrial park (IP) infrastructure projects:
- Thuy Nguyen IP (Phase 1): A key project in the northern land, ready for waves of high-tech investment.
- Nam Trang Cat IP: With the participation of investor Vinhomes, this project promises to create a high-class industrial-urban ecosystem.
- Infrastructure of other IPs: Such as Hoang Dieu IP, Binh Giang IP (with investor Kinh Bac), and the Doan Tung 2 Industrial Cluster (IC) have contributed to expanding the industrial development potential for the region.
Notably, the inauguration of the 110kV Tu Minh (Dai An 2) Transmission Line and Substationaffirmed the city's commitment to providing synchronous technical infrastructure, ensuring a stable energy source for investors.
4. Social Welfare Linked with Sustainable DevelopmentBeyond the economy, the city also pays great attention to social welfare. The inauguration of the Hai Duong Social Protection and Nursing Center and the groundbreaking of the Social Housing project in Mao Dien commune are clear evidence of the principle of development for the people. Caring for housing and the lives of disadvantaged groups and workers is always a top priority for city leaders this term.
5. Determination to Act and Synchronous CoordinationTo ensure the success of the event, the City People's Committee assigned specific tasks to Vice Chairmen to directly direct at each location. Departments and sectors such as the Department of Construction (the lead agency), the Economic Zone Management Authority, the Department of Industry and Trade, the City Police, and the Military Command coordinated closely, from legal procedures and environmental sanitation to security and fire prevention.
The simultaneous organization of 14 projects aims not only to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and Resolution 45 of the Politburo but also to create a vibrant emulation atmosphere throughout the political system. These projects are the "sweet fruit" of unity and innovation, a solid prerequisite for Hai Phong to step firmly on the path to becoming an international-caliber, civilized, and modern port city.
