Hai Phong Radiant in Festive Colors: Awaiting the Art Program "The Country is Full of Joy" and the 2026 Expanded Puppet Festival

Amidst the joyful atmosphere of the entire country celebrating major holidays in April and May, Hai Phong City is actively preparing a series of large-scale cultural and artistic activities. These are key events within the plan for the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong 2026, promising unique cultural experiences for both residents and tourists.

  1. Art Program: "The Country is Full of Joy"

Opening the series of events is a special art program commemorating the 51st anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, as well as the 72nd anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

  • Program Name: "The Country is Full of Joy".
  • Official Performance Time: From 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM on April 30, 2026.
  • Location: City Theater Square.

The program is elaborately invested with a modern stage and LED screens, recreating the nation's heroic historical milestones. A final rehearsal will take place at 3:00 PM on the same day to ensure the highest artistic quality before the opening.

  1. The 4th Expanded Hai Phong Puppet Festival - 2026

Continuing the festive spirit, the Puppet Festival with the theme “Hai Phong - Convergence - Radiance” will officially take place on May 9, 2026. This is an iconic cultural event, gathering famous theaters and puppet guilds from across the country.

Colorful Street Parade Program:

  • Time: 5:00 PM on May 9, 2026.
  • Route: Departing from the City Theater Square through central streets such as Quang Trung, Nguyen Duc Canh, Tran Phu, and Tran Hung Dao, then returning to the starting point.
  • Participants: The festival brings together 21 parade delegations, including prominent names like the Vietnam Puppetry Theatre, Thang Long - Hanoi Puppet Theatre, and the Southern Dragon Puppet Troupe (Ho Chi Minh City), along with traditional folk puppet guilds and international, business, women, and children's groups.

Festival Opening Ceremony:

  • Time: 6:00 PM on May 9, 2026.
  • Location: City Theater Square.

The event is not only a playground for artists but also an opportunity to honor and promote the nation's intangible cultural heritage within the context of the port city's international integration.

The Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, along with relevant agencies, are currently actively coordinating to ensure security, environmental hygiene, and traffic flow, ready to provide the safest and most attractive festival space.
