Hai Phong puppet art troupe’s performance serving Vietnamese overseas, international friends and guests in Taiwan

On the evening of October 08, Hai Phong puppet art troupe gave performance in Vietnam and Asia’s Culture Month in Taiwan, which was a combination of water puppet, marionettes and Vietnamese folk musical instrument.

Flute solo performance introduced to audience the indispensable musical instrument in traditional festivals of H’Mong ethnics, which is a means for boys to express their love to girls in the village.

Fan dance performance was represented in marionettes in which the puppet’s arms, legs and head are moved by strings in Bac Ninh’s folk music with the images of beautiful Vietnamese girls in traditional village’s festivals.

The artists and musicians also brought to audience unique water puppet performances in alignment with natural conditions and daily life of paddy agricultural farmers in the Northern plain area, representing the unique and outstanding cultural feature of Vietnam’s nation in comparison with water puppet art of other countries across the world, which was recognized as Vietnamese intangible culture heritage.

The program left a deep expression with audience, helping to promote Vietnamese unique art form to international friends while bringing the “taste of homeland” to overseas Vietnamese./.
