On the morning of October 30, 2024, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, chaired a meeting between relevant parties to discuss the direction of cultural cooperation and Japanese language education in Hai Phong. The meeting was attended by Mr. Yonemori Shinshuke - Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Mr. Yoshioka Norihiko - Director of the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and officials of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam (JF).
Over the years, Japanese language teaching and learning activities in the city have maintained high efficiency, partly thanks to the active contributions of JF. Programs such as Japanese language partners supporting Japanese language teaching in schools, teacher training, and Japanese language exchange activities for students have contributed to improving the professional qualifications of teachers, while creating useful playgrounds for students.
In addition to educational programs, the Japanese Film Festival held annually in Hai Phong also attracts active participation from the people, contributing to promoting cultural exchange between the two countries, while enhancing the city's people's understanding of Japanese culture, society and people.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Dung highly appreciated the attention and support of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam for the city, as well as the meaningful activities of JF in developing Japanese language education and cultural exchange in Hai Phong. 2025 is the year marking the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong's Liberation Day, the Department of Foreign Affairs proposed that the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam coordinate to organize Japan Day in Hai Phong. In addition, the Department of Foreign Affairs also suggested that JF consider organizing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test locally, creating favorable conditions for the Japanese language learning community.

Mr. Yoshioka Norihiko - Director of JF, expressed his gratitude for the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs for activities in Hai Phong and agreed to continue to maintain and develop cooperation activities in the fields of education and culture in the coming time, specifically: organizing exchange programs for 03 to 05 high school students and teachers at schools receiving Japanese language partners of Hai Phong city to exchange and visit Japan from 01 to 02 times a year; Japanese artists performing traditional musical instruments at Japanese language schools in the city,...
Also at the meeting, Mr. Yonemori Shinsuke, Second Secretary, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, expressed his impression of the Japanese language teaching and learning activities in Hai Phong, and discussed the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam's readiness to support and assist Hai Phong city in organizing cultural events.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of cooperation and high consensus between the two sides on enhancing cultural activities and Japanese language education in Hai Phong. This not only opens up many opportunities for extensive cooperation but also contributes to further strengthening the long-term friendship between Vietnam and Japan in general, Hai Phong and Japan in particular. This cooperation promises to bring many values to both sides in the future and promote the cultural and educational development of Hai Phong city./.
