Workers of Tan Vu port branch went on board RORO ship to unload cars.
According to representatives of Tan Vu port branch (Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company), on February 20, 2022, the branch had successfully received and unloaded 795 commercial cars transported by RORO ship (Roll-on/Roll- off Procyon Leader from Laem Chabang (Thailand) on the morning of February 20 and finished the unloading at 6:30 p.m of the same day. The ship had left port branch safely afterwards.
Procyon Leader ship with a tonnage of 17,361 tons, length of 179.9 m is a specialized car carrier of NYK (Japan), a close partner of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company for many years. With the spirit of safe, flexible adaptation to and effectively controlling COVID-19 epidemic, Tan Vu port had rushed to complete the unloading with the support and coordination of specialized state management agencies.
It is known that since November 2020, NYK sends 3-4 car carriers on average to Hai Phong Port every month, in which the common car brands include Toyota, Ford, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Honda; MG, Suzuki, Mazda and Gaz. According to Circular No. 21/2021/TT-BCT of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hai Phong is among the 06 seaport border gates nationwide allowed to import cars with less than 16 seats as qualified in the unloading works and customs clearance, creating favorable conditions for import enterprises.
