Ceremony to celebrate the 1 millionth TEUs of goods in Tan Vu Port in 2021
On the morning of November 20, Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to celebrate the 1 millionth container in Tan Vu port branch. This is the first time a port in Hai Phong has handled 1 million TEUs in a year.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee; leaders of Vietnam Maritimes Corporation, seaport management agencies in Hai Phong, customers and partners of Hai Phong Port.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee congratulated and appreciated Tan Vu port’s achievement achieved regardless of difficulties and obstacles, turning challenges into opportunities, handling 1 million TEUs of container cargo. Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho emphasized that Hai Phong Port was the leading key port of Hai Phong city, actively contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the city and the country.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, business activities and port operations have been affected, especially in some localities applying social distancing. Hai Phong city focuses on disease prevention and control, supporting port businesses to operate safely and smoothly, maintaining the impressive growth. In just 10 months of 2021, the volume of goods through Hai Phong ports increased by 7.06% compared with the same spell to reach nearly 120 million tons, demonstrating Hai Phong Port’s continual breakthrough and achievements in production and business, contributing to the service supply chain maintenance, making a positive contribution to the city's socio-economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho noted that in response to the requirements of industrialization - modernization and extensive international integration, Hai Phong Port should not only focus on accelerating investment and development but also needs to be dynamic, creative, grasp scientific technological achievements, focus on human resource and corporate culture to make breakthrough; deploying the construction and exploitation of upcoming ports in Lach Huyen, contributing to the strong and sustainable development of the enterprise and the successful implemention of the Resolution No. 45 of the Politburo.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh, General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, in 2021, Hai Phong seaports faced numerous difficulties and challenges, however Hai Phong Port had been determined, united, dynamic and creative to overcome challenges, complete tasks excellently. In just 10 months of 2021, Hai Phong Port handled 24 million tons of cargo, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2020. Despite the face that the ship’s changeable schedules made it difficult for the arrangement of berths, mobilizing human resources, equipment, arranging yards, Hai Phong Port had come up with flexible solutions, promoted the application of information technology, avoided backlog of goods, and created favorable conditions for customers. Therefore, the efficiency index of Hai Phong Port, especially Tan Vu port branch, had always been among the list of the best seaports in the world. In just 11 months of 2021, Tan Vu port branch reached 1 million TEU containers, showing the efficiency in production management, creating favorable conditions for owners, ship owners and the attractiveness of Hai Phong Port. In the future, Hai Phong Port will continue to invest, improve its handling capacity, reputation, and raise its trademark in the region and in the world as well as cooperate with customers in the spirit of " harmonized interests and shared risks " ./.
