Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Tien Chau expressed the hope that the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium will continue serving as a bridge to promote Hai Phong’s image.
Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee Le Tien Chau visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Vietnam Delegation to the European Union (EU) on the afternoon of December 3 (local time). This was the first activity in the delegation’s three-day working trip to the country.
For years, with the active support of the embassy, cooperation between Hai Phong and Belgium has grown stronger. The DEEP C industrial park complex is a symbol of successful cooperation between Vietnam and Belgium in general, and between Hai Phong and Belgium in particular.
Cooperation in trade, seaports, logistics, education with the University of Antwerp and the University of Liège, scientific research, energy, and environmental management has achieved positive results, contributing to the city’s development.
With significant potential and an orientation toward green and sustainable development, Hai Phong hopes to further expand cooperation with Belgian partners in seaports and logistics, green industry, supporting industry, high technology, energy transition, circular economy, smart urban development, and education and training. These are sectors in which Belgium and the EU have strengths and which align with the city’s development needs.
Expressing the desire for the Vietnamese Embassy to continue serving as a bridge to promote Hai Phong’s image, culture, people, potential and investment opportunities to Belgian partners, Secretary of the city Party Committee Le Tien Chau asked Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao to support the city in strengthening connections between Hai Phong and Belgian localities with shared characteristics, enabling both sides to exchange experience and explore practical cooperation opportunities. He also requested support in identifying suitable management models for seaports, logistics and green industry.
Appreciating Hai Phong’s development potential and its efforts to expand trade relations with Belgium, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao affirmed that he will support Hai Phong in participating in investment, trade, education and training promotion activities organized or coordinated by the embassy, and in strengthening connections between the Vietnamese intellectual and business communities in Belgium and the EU with Hai Phong.
