On February 12, 2026, the UNESCO Campaign Committee for honoring Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem officially issued Plan No. 19/KH-BVĐ regarding the implementation of tasks to serve the development of the scientific dossier requesting UNESCO’s honoring of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death (1585 - 2035). This is an important step to affirm his exceptionally outstanding contributions to the nation’s literature and culture.
In 2026, the city will focus on implementing key groups of tasks to meet UNESCO's strict criteria:
- Media and Cinema: Organize the broadcasting of 03 film episodes about Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on Central television channels (VTV1 or VTV2) during prime time. Simultaneously, promote the collection and compilation of content for wide publication on the websites of departments and sectors, as well as the City Electronic Information Portal.
- Scientific Research: Implement a city-level research project on the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values related to Trang Trinh (for the 2026 - 2028 period); develop in-depth scientific reports conducted by professors and leading experts.
- Events and Exhibitions: Organize an international seminar on Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem; launch a photo contest and exhibition on related topics in the third quarter of 2026.
- Multilingual Publication: Collect, compile, and publish "The Complete Works of Nguyen Binh Khiem," translated into various languages such as English, French, Russian, and Chinese to introduce him to international friends, alongside starting the 3D book project.
To ensure quality and efficiency, the Campaign Committee (recently consolidated under Decision No. 5334/QĐ-UBND) has assigned specific responsibilities:
- Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism: Acts as the permanent focal agency, responsible for presiding over and coordinating the implementation of main tasks in research, publication, and media.
- Department of Foreign Affairs: Introduces and promotes the image of Trang Trinh to international partners; integrates his heritage values into foreign affairs activities both domestically and abroad.
- Department of Education and Training: Conducts extensive propaganda among students regarding the spirit of studiousness and the significance of building the UNESCO dossier.
- Funding: The total estimated budget for implementing the tasks in 2026 is 20.4 billion VND, including the state budget, socialized sources, and other legal sources.
The implementation of this plan is a practical activity to pay tribute to the great contributions of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem while educating younger generations on the tradition of loving their homeland and country. The implemented tasks must ensure relevance and practicality, closely linked to the historical events of the country and the city.
