Hai Phong: "Opening the Door" to High-End Tourism Thanks to the "Leverage" of 5-Star Hotels

The "trigger" for the breakthrough of Hai Phong tourism cannot fail to mention the strong investment in high-class accommodation systems, especially 5-star international standard hotels.

Route Inn Vietnam Hai Phong Co., Ltd. has officially started the project to build an international 5-star hotel in So Dau Ward, Hong Bang District. When put into operation, the hotel promises to provide 343 5-star rooms, equivalent to about 686 beds, meeting the increasing accommodation needs of domestic and foreign tourists when coming to the Port City.

Emphasizing the role of high-end accommodation in attracting visitors and enhancing Hai Phong's tourism status, Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan - General Director of Hoa Binh Travel International Group said that having more 5-star hotels meeting international standards will help Hai Phong meet the needs of domestic and international expert delegations, businessmen and especially expand the need to serve the high-end customer segment.

With 5-star hotels, Hai Phong will also have the conditions to host major national and international events and welcome large-scale tourists from Korea, Japan, etc. in the form of charter flights (chartered flights exclusively for tourists), which has been on the rise in recent years.

Five-star hotels not only provide luxurious accommodation but also offer high-class experiences, from exquisite cuisine, relaxing spas to high-end entertainment facilities. This is the key factor to attract and retain this customer segment, who are not only looking for a vacation but also want to enjoy services and experiences worthy of their status.

"With Hai Phong continuously welcoming new 5-star hotel projects, such as the Route Inn Vietnam hotel that has just started construction, we believe that Hai Phong is gradually affirming its position as a leading luxury tourist destination in the region," Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan shared, adding that this opens up great opportunities for travel businesses in designing and providing luxury tours to meet the increasing demand of the market. "We expect this development to create a complete luxury tourism ecosystem, thereby enhancing the value and competitiveness of Hai Phong tourism on the international map," he said.

On the management side, Mr. Vu Huy Thuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong said that the tourism industry of Hai Phong is actively developing plans and projects to realize the goal of turning the city into a high-end tourism center in the near future. In particular, identifying sea and island tourism (eco, high-end resorts) as the main type, leading the types of sports, MICE, cultural - spiritual, and rural tourism.

According to statistics from the Hai Phong Department of Tourism, Hai Phong currently has 7 5-star hotels operating quite effectively. Of which, in the city center there are 5 5-star hotels including: Pearl River Hotel, Gia River Resort Hotel, Mercure Hai Phong Hotel, Sheraton Hai Phong Hotel, Media Vinpearl Rivera Hai Phong Hotel. The remaining 2 5-star hotels operating in Cat Ba tourist area include: Perle O'rient Cat Ba Resort Hotel, Flamigo Cat Ba Beach Hotel. The 5-star hotels in operation all have relatively large room occupancy rates, especially in Cat Ba tourist area. Many times, 5-star hotels in Cat Ba are fully booked 1-2 months in advance.

The good news is that Hai Phong is actively adding to its "collection" of 5-star hotels with 6 projects under construction and completion, expected to be "launched" in the near future. Of these, 3 hotels: Wyndham Dragon Ocean located in the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area Project, Pullman, Hilton have been completed and put into use. The 5-star hotel located in the Diamond Crown Complex Hai Phong Project, the 5-star hotel in the Sat Market area and the M'Gallery Cat Ba Hotel (phase 2) are also being urgently built.

Along with that, a 5-star hotel in the International Convention, Trade and Tourism Center Project is being submitted to the competent authority for approval. Thus, in the future, Hai Phong will have 14 5-star hotels with top standards and international-class service quality.

According to Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh - Vice President of Hai Phong Tourism Association, the boom of 5-star hotels will help MICE tourism in particular and high-end tourism in Hai Phong in general to develop more and more in the coming time. Especially when the city is converging full potential for tourism development with advantages in terms of sea, rail, road and air, convenient exchange with provinces in the region and the whole country as well as international exchange, there are many conditions to welcome and serve a large number of domestic and international tourists.

Mr. Xavier Cappelut - Executive Vice President of Accor Vietnam, the operator and manager of Pullman Hai Phong Grand Hotel, said that in the tourism industry, there are two main markets: entertainment and conference and event organization. Hai Phong is a city with a lot of potential for developing MICE tourism, because Hai Phong is not only a perfect destination for customers traveling for business, attending conferences and meetings, but also a very famous destination for cuisine, families, and tourists who love to explore. When the spearhead of MICE tourism is developed, it will be a lever to promote the development of Hai Phong's entertainment tourism.

With strong potential and motivation from investment in 5-star hotel system, Hai Phong is facing a great opportunity to really break out on the tourism map.
