According to the leadership of Hai Phong Customs Department, in January 2025, the total import-export turnover of Hai Phong City reached over USD 9.649 billion, a decrease of 16.81% compared to December 2024 and a 6.4% decrease compared to January 2024.

Specifically, export turnover reached more than USD 4,960 million, down 15.36% compared to December 2024 and down 4.6% compared to the same period in 2024. Of this, taxable export turnover was USD 20.03 million, a decrease of 32.61% from December and a sharp drop of 59.8% compared to the same period in 2024.
Import turnover was over USD 4,688 million, down 18.29% from December 2024 and down 8.2% year-on-year. Taxable import turnover reached USD 1,823.53 million, a decrease of 24.85% from December and 3.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
Compared to the same period in 2024, taxable import turnover for seven items—namely, automobiles of all types, automobile parts and components, motorcycles, motorcycle parts, beer and alcohol, cosmetics, and machinery and equipment—increased. However, taxable imports of petroleum and steel decreased.
Compared to January 2024, taxable imports for seven commodity groups—cars of all kinds, auto parts, motorcycles, motorcycle parts, alcoholic beverages, cosmetics, and machinery/equipment—increased. However, taxable imports of petroleum and iron and steel declined.
In January 2025, the total number of import-export declarations processed at the subordinate and affiliated Sub-Departments under the Hai Phong Customs Department reached nearly 216,000 declarations (a decrease of 4.04% compared to the same period in 2024 and a decrease of 17.75% compared to December 2024). Of these, there were 113,558 import declarations and 102,439 export declarations.
The Sub-Department with the highest number of import-export declarations was the Hai Phong Export Processing and Industrial Zone Customs Sub-Department, with over 52,000 declarations. The Sub-Department with the lowest number of declarations was the Hai Phong Port Customs Sub-Department - Area 1, with more than 3,700 declarations.
In terms of declaration channel classification, the green channel accounted for 65.6%, the yellow channel 32.2%, and the red channel 2.2%.
