Hai Phong identifies 5 priority industries to promote digital economy

This is an important step to promote comprehensive digital transformation and develop a modern and sustainable economy of Hai Phong City.

Hai Phong City aims to develop the digital economy to account for 35% of GRDP in 2025.

According to Plan No. 106/KH-UBND, Hai Phong City aims to have the digital economy account for 35% of GRDP by the end of 2025; the digital economy in each industry and field will account for at least 15%; and e-commerce will account for over 15% of total retail sales.

Hai Phong also aims to achieve a rate of over 0.7 digital technology enterprises per 1,000 people; 85% of the population aged 15 and over having a payment account at a bank or other licensed organization; more than 50% of adults having a digital signature or personal electronic signature; and 80% of the adult population having a VNeID electronic identification account.

The tasks and solutions are also specifically directed by the People's Committee of Hai Phong City. Accordingly, it will organize surveys, measurements and assessments of the level of digital transformation in industries and fields. It will guide organizations, enterprises and business households to self-assess according to a set of standard criteria through conferences and seminars; pilot in some localities to gain experience before expanding throughout the city. At the same time, the city will support connecting subjects with the ecosystem of digital products and services to build a sustainable local digital ecosystem.

In addition, Hai Phong City will also focus on developing strong digital technology enterprises, playing the role of advanced production forces in the digital economy. The authorities will identify practical problems to order digital technology enterprises according to specialized instructions, thereby solving bottlenecks in development.

The construction of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure and the synchronous deployment of digital utilities are being promoted in key sectors and industries. Hai Phong also identified 5 priority sectors to promote the digital economy, including: E-commerce, smart tourism, smart agriculture, smart manufacturing and information and communication technology (ICT).

Departments, branches and localities of Hai Phong are directed to integrate the goals and tasks of digital economic development into the digital transformation programs and plans of the sectors and fields in charge. Organize extensive propaganda among cadres, civil servants, workers and people to raise awareness and create consensus in implementation.
