On August 6, a Hai Phong City delegation led by Party Secretary, Mr. Le Tien Chau met with leaders of ZTE and TCL Corporations in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, to explore opportunities in digital transformation and technology investment. Accompanied by Vietnamese Consul General Nguyen Viet Dung and other city leaders, the delegation highlighted Hai Phong’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration with global tech leaders. ZTE, a global telecommunications leader serving 160+ countries, showcased its advancements and partnerships with Vietnamese firms like VNPT, Viettel, and FPT. ZTE’s leadership praised Hai Phong's economic achievements and expressed interest in collaborating on digital transformation and port digitalization. Secretary Chau emphasized Hai Phong's focus on high-tech industries, ports, and logistics and invited ZTE to invest in building 5G networks, smart monitoring systems, and e-government platforms, aiming to transform Hai Phong into a smart city.
During the meeting with TCL, Mr. Chau highlighted Hai Phong’s success in attracting $3.62 billion in foreign investment in 2023 and its robust industrial infrastructure, including Shenzhen-funded industrial parks. Hai Phong offers incentives such as streamlined administrative procedures, workforce training, and land for worker housing and R&D centers. Mr. Chau proposed opening a Hai Phong-Shenzhen air route to strengthen economic ties and facilitate investment.
TCL leaders expressed interest in Hai Phong’s potential and sought support for administrative procedures and workforce development. Both meetings reaffirmed Hai Phong's position as a key destination for technology and digital transformation investment in Vietnam.
