To implement the conclusions of Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang – Head of the Central Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census, Hai Phong City is urgently adjusting its plans to ensure the early completion of set goals.

Adjusting Timelines for Preliminary Results According to the latest central directives, the 2026 Economic Census (EC 2026) implementation plan has been adjusted to ensure the publication of preliminary results on June 30, 2026, which is seven months earlier than the original plan. To achieve this, phase 1 and phase 2 information collection must be completed 20 days and 120 days earlier, respectively; the progress of data checking and cleaning must also be accelerated.
Hai Phong's Implementation of Key Tasks Immediately following the central announcement, on February 24, 2026, the Hai Phong City People's Committee Office issued Document No. 1884/VP-TH conveying the instructions of City People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Kien – Head of the City's 2026 Economic Census Steering Committee. The key tasks include:
- Adjusting Detailed Plans: Tasking the City Statistical Office with urgently developing the city's adjusted plan based on the central plan and assigning specific tasks to each unit.
- Accelerating Progress Across Phases: Instructing commune-level steering committees to complete phase 1 data collection and be ready to start phase 2 data collection from March 01, 2026.
- Ensuring Quality and Consistency: Relevant departments and sectors are responsible for providing administrative data for comparison and cross-checking with census results to ensure the synchronization and accuracy of local socio-economic data.
- Strengthening Supervision: Steering committees at all levels must provide drastic leadership and increase on-site inspections and supervision to timely resolve any obstacles or difficulties.
