Hai Phong Delegation Visits and Works in Fukushima, Japan

As part of their business trip to Japan, the Hai Phong city delegation, led by Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, conducted a visit and working session in Fukushima Prefecture. The visit aimed to explore and promote opportunities for cooperation between the two localities in areas of mutual interest such as culture, education, and more.

The delegation took a commemorative photo with Mr. Masaaki Suzuki, Vice Governor of Fukushima Prefecture.

At the Fukushima Prefectural Office, the delegation paid a courtesy call on Mr. Masaaki Suzuki, Vice Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, and listened to a presentation by Mr. Yasuhiko Sato, Director of Policy, Planning and Coordination Department, about Fukushima’s reconstruction efforts following the 2011 earthquake disaster. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere, opening up prospects for cooperation and promising significant potential for collaboration.

In his speech, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong expressed admiration and respect for the resilience and extraordinary efforts of the Fukushima government and people in recovering from the disaster. He emphasized that the visit provided an invaluable opportunity to learn from Fukushima's experiences and to enhance cooperative relations between the two localities in the future.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Fukushima Robot Test Field, where Japan is pioneering the use of robotics technology to collect hazardous materials in high-radiation environments. At the facility, robots are tested and evaluated before being mass-produced for applications in production, science, and daily life.

The delegation also visited the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field, recognized as the world’s largest hydrogen production facility using renewable energy. The facility, which began construction in 2018 and was inaugurated in 2020, currently produces and supplies green hydrogen. This hydrogen is used for electricity generation and as fuel for fuel cell vehicles.

The delegation visited the Fukushima Hydrogen Energy Research Field.

The visit to Fukushima opened new prospects for cooperation between Hai Phong and Fukushima, contributing to strengthening ties and promoting sustainable development between the two localities.
