Hai Phong Commits to Accompanying Businesses in Investment and Business Activities

This is one of the contents emphasized by the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee during the working session with the delegation of the Southeast Asia and Oceania Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Singapore to learn about the investment environment in Hai Phong City.

On May 20, in a discussion with Ms. Wong Yoke Hui - Director of Southeast Asia and Oceania Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of Singapore, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee said: In 2024, the City's GRDP will increase by more than 11%, this is the 10th consecutive year that Hai Phong has maintained double-digit growth. At the same time, Hai Phong is always in the top of Vietnam's localities attracting foreign investment.

In 2024 alone, Hai Phong's total foreign investment attraction will reach 4.9 billion USD. As of May 2025, the city has 1,071 valid FDI projects with a total investment capital of 38 billion USD from investors from 39 countries and territories. Currently, 14 industrial parks have been established, most of which have been filled.

In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to focus on developing 20 new industrial parks with a total area of ​​over 7,000 hectares according to the approved plan. In particular, the City has been approved by the Government to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone with an area of ​​about 20,000 hectares - a comprehensive coastal economic zone following the model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies.

Emphasizing that Hai Phong still has a lot of room to attract investment, the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee also expressed their welcome and willingness to facilitate and support Singaporean enterprises to survey and seek investment and business cooperation opportunities in the locality. The city is committed to creating favorable conditions and accompanying enterprises in the process of surveying, investing and doing business in Hai Phong. 

Ms. Wong Yoke Hui, Director of Southeast Asia and Oceania Department, Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, expressed her impression of the strong development of Hai Phong City in recent years.

“Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular have great potential for cooperation and investment promotion in areas such as clean energy, digital transformation, seaports and logistics…”, Ms. Wong Yoke Hui expressed.  

After the working session with the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee, the working delegation of the Southeast Asia and Oceania Department, Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry will strengthen promotion activities, encouraging Singaporean enterprises to cooperate and invest in areas suitable to the needs and sustainable development strategy of Hai Phong City.
