At Hai Phong People's Council regular meeting in December, delegates grasped Chairman of Hai Phong People's Committee Nguyễn Văn Tùng report on the results of implementing socio-economic tasks, defense and security in 2023; goals, targets, tasks, solutions for 2024.
Carrying out the tasks 2023 amid many difficulties, but thanks to the determination of the entire political system, the consensus of the people and the business community, Hai Phong city continues to stabilize and develop, win and exceed 14/19 socio-economic criteria according to the Year Plan; Domestic revenue is estimated at 42,500 billion VND, accounting for 135.66% of the estimate assigned by the Central Government, 100% of the estimate assigned by Hai Phong People's Council; Foreign affairs and investment promotion activities have been promoted with positive results, FDI attraction is estimated at 3.5 billion USD, far exceeding the plan assigned by Hai Phong People's Council (expected to attract 2- 2.5 billion USD). The city has successfully in mobilizing support from international organizations in order achieve UNESCO’s recognization of Cat Ba Archipelago - Ha Long Bay as a world natural heritage. Such fields of culture and society, and environment continues to receive attention; Social security is guaranteed. Political and social stability, national defense and security, social order and safety are maintained.
According to the plan, by 2024, the city will have 20 key projects, of which 5 projects have been completed, 12 projects will start construction, and 2 others will be implemented and transitioned from 2023. These are all projects of transportation, urban, and socio-cultural infrastructure, helping Hai Phong city raise its position and create motivation for the city's socio-economic development.
