At the meeting, H.E Nguyen Vu Tung was glad to inform the Chairman and delegation that he had received highly appreciated comments from the LG regarding their factories’ operation in Hai Phong. As the LG’s suggestion and concern regarding electricity supply and Korean language training, when the latter is enhanced, that will be great to enhance their operation and human sources. Replying to the LG’s suggestion and concern, the electricity will be stable after completion of ground affairs; for Korean language enhancement, the city has implemented different measures to encourage young generations to learn Korean language, also a news channel provided regularly in the local TV news. In 2021, the city signed a MoU with the Korean Embassy in cooperation in enhancing cultural exchanges including Korean language being taught in schools in the city. As mentioned at the meeting, Hai Phong City would collaborate with KCCI in the organization of an investment promotion in Seoul on August 23; this would be an opportunity to strengthen calling investment into Hai Phong City. Currently, with 172 projects with a total investment capital of around 10 billion USD, a number of Korean people including investors, businessmen and their relatives living and working in Hai Phong City has been increasing, Korean businessmen’s associations have run smoothly and have close relations with the city. If a R&D center is established that will bring more opportunities for calling high-skilled workers, expertise to move to the city and that then will carry out benefits not only for the city but also for the company. That is one of the interests of Hai Phong City to the LG and the city will be willing to spend an area of 100 ha in a good location of the city’s new administrative area for R&D center. Other suggestions related to international schools, masterplan, opening a new direct flight between Hai Phong and Busan (Korea), development of logistic terminal for air cargo and tourist facilities have been in the city’s interests that the city has called on and worked with foreign partners to boost. Indeed, if establishment of a logistic terminal for cargo transport by air with attached facilities for storage and transportation, that would be beneficial for enterprises as it would help cut down transferring cost and profitable for the city as it would make a contribution to increase the city’s revenue generated from import and export activities.

Warm greetings to the Hai Phong City’s delegation and the Chairman, the Ambassador was pleased to hear comments and suggestions from the city and recommended some approaches that would be sufficient for the city to call on and implement in the future. Regarding master planning interest, the Embassy suggested the smart-city model applied in the Songdo area of Incheon Metropolitan City would be a sample when Hai Phong city has observed complexes of smart satellite cities in the city’s area. Connecting and expanding relationship with Incheon and other cities of Korea has been processed through diverse ways, from existing relationships between the city and Incheon, through Korean investors and businesspersons, and people’s diplomacy.

The Ambassador was glad and would like to make the Embassy a common house for Vietnamese people in general and official visits when coming to Korea, and being a connector in bridging relations between home cities and Korean ones.
