Final round of the 7th Korean Contest – Hai Phong 2021

On November 27 morning, Department of Foreign Affairs, the City Union of Friendship Organization, and the Korean Association in Hai Phong, co-hosted the final round of the 7th Korean Contest – Hai Phong 2021, with the topic “Vietnam- Korea cooperation, together overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic”. Attended to the event, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee, representatives of related Departments and agencies, Representative Office of Korea’s Education overseas at Vietnam, Korean Association in Hai Phong, FDI entrepreneurs at the city’s area; students and pupils of schools and Korean language centers in the city.

Giving a speech at the event, Mr. Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee, underlined that the contest was an intellectual playground connecting youngsters who love Korean across the city. Mr. Le Khac Nam paid high consideration to close and effective cooperation of the Korean Association in Hai Phong, Korean entrepreneurs at Trang Due and Deep C Industrial Zones, and Korean language centers for maintenance and organization of such annual contest , many approaches to build up Korean-learning – applying environment in the city’s inhabitants, contributing effectively to learning and practicing Korean in the city. On this occasion, on behalf of the city’s leadership, Mr. Le Khac Nam expressed gratitude to deepening cooperation of the Korean Embassy to Vietnam and quick-up implementation of the signed MOU’s contents, in which, there was to lead learning, teaching, and applying Korean language to become a typical model. Such attempts would positively contribute to deepening and upgrading relations and cooperation between Hai Phong and Korean partners to the new levels.

Participated in interview taken by Hai Phong Television, Chairman of Korean Association in Hai Phong, Mr. Cho Sung Sin expressed his high consideration to Hai Phong’s organization of the annual Korean Contest which would be an opportunity to find out Korean-language talents, expanding opportunities to youngsters to work in Korean companies as well as to continue higher education in Korea.

The Contest this year attracted many candidates who love Korean from schools, companies, and foreign language centers in the city’s area. The contestants completed excellently their performances and personal views on the Contest ’s topic “Vietnam- Korea cooperation, together overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic”. Many contestants expressed their ability to speak Korean fluently, master the stage, and answer confidently and excellently that surprised the Judges.

Ten excellent contestants selected to attend to the final round of the Contest performed their vocal presentations by Korean on selected topics, then answered questions of the Judges. Each candidate performed his/her presentation in 07 minutes, then answering 02-03 questions from the Judges.

The final round took place with 02 boards, including intermediate and advanced Korean (Board A) with 03 contestants, and beginner Korean (Board B) with 07 contestants.

Awarding the first prize of Board A to candidate Hang Van Thang

For results, at Board A, the Organization awarded the first prize to candidate Hoang Van Thang, who has been working for Haengsung Electronics Company with a reward of 15 million VND (including 01 Samsung Ipad valued 10 million VND and 05 million VND by cash) with Certificate of the Organization.

Awarding the first prize of Board B to candidate Tran Thi Thu Trang

The first prize of Board B belonged to candidate Tran Thi Thu Trang, student of Hanoi College of Science and Technology (Hai Phong branch) with a reward of 12 million VND (including 01 Samsung Ipad valued 10 million VND and 02 million VND by cash) with Certificate of the Organization.

The Contest closed successfully in joy and excitement of cooperative units for their closer friendship and cooperation between Hai Phong and Korea in economic, cultural, and social fields. The Contest also left a deep impression on the contestants; they got moments of pride and experience with a thirst for self-conquest, knowledge, and glory. The contest ended successfully and we continue to looking forward for the next year’s contest that promises many surprises, especially to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam-Korean diplomatic relation establishment.
