On June 10, 2026, the Politburo issued Decision No. 198-QD/TW on the establishment of the Central Steering Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Integration (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Committee). This is an important step to strengthen the Party's leadership in foreign affairs in the context of the country's determination to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Congress and enter a new era.

High-level Leadership Structure
According to the decision, the Steering Committee consists of 37 members, gathering key leaders of the Party and the State. Specifically:
- Head of the Steering Committee: Comrade To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
- Standing Deputy Head: Comrade Le Minh Hung, Member of the Politburo and Prime Minister.
- Deputy Heads: Comrade Tran Thanh Man, Member of the Politburo and Chairman of the National Assembly; and Comrade Tran Cam Tu, Member of the Politburo and Standing Member of the Secretariat.
- Standing Member: Comrade Le Hoai Trung, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Composition and Inter-sectoral Working Groups
The Steering Committee includes the participation of many Politburo members, Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, and key ministers. Notably, the Steering Committee's structure includes leaders in charge of specialized inter-sectoral working areas:
- Politics, National Defense, and Security: Led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang as the Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group.
- Economy and Science-Technology: Led by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc as the Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group.
- Culture, Society, and Education-Training: Led by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra as the Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group.
In addition, leaders of major cities also participate as members of the Steering Committee, including comrade Le Ngọc Châu, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.
Functions and Tasks
The Central Steering Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Integration will operate in accordance with the regulations on functions, tasks, powers, and working regimes issued by the Politburo. The establishment of the Steering Committee at this time is of strategic significance, aiming to unify the leadership and administration of foreign affairs and international integration activities. This ensures effective service for economic development, national security protection, and the enhancement of Vietnam's position in the international arena in the new period.
