During the meeting, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong shared key information about Hai Phong's socio-economic achievements, investment climate, and strengths. He highlighted the city's industrial expansion, noting the establishment of 14 industrial zones, most of which are already occupied. Looking ahead, Hai Phong plans to develop 20 new industrial zones, covering over 7,000 hectares.
Additionally, the city has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to establish the Southern Coastal Economic Zone, encompassing approximately 20,000 hectares. This next-generation 3.0 eco-economic zone will focus on high-tech industries, modern port logistics, and smart urban development. By 2030, this economic zone is envisioned to become a key growth driver for the region, accelerating the development goals of Hai Phong and the Red River Delta.
Currently, Hai Phong hosts over 100 projects from investors representing 39 countries and territories. Among them, Chinese investors lead in project numbers (422 projects) and rank second in investment capital, totaling $6.46 billion. Despite the geographical proximity and convenient transportation links between Hai Phong and Fangchenggang, the two cities have had limited exchanges and cooperation. Vice Chairman Hoang Minh Cuong expressed hope that this visit would serve as a foundation for strengthening interactions and collaborations between the two cities.
The Vice Chairman welcomed the delegation's proposals for cooperation in industries such as trade, new energy, high technology, and vocational education, emphasizing their alignment with Hai Phong's development strategy. He tasked the Department of Foreign Affairs with coordinating and creating a comprehensive cooperation plan to foster in-depth and extensive collaboration between the two localities. Vice Mayor, Mr. Chen Guang Quynh expressed his affirmation to Hai Phong’s leadership for the warm reception and noted the similarities between the two cities in terms of port operations and geographical advantages. He emphasized the vast potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as port logistics, trade, industrial zones, and vocational education.
In the immediate future, both sides will focus on promoting trade exchanges, people-to-people connections, and delegation visits to enhance practical and effective cooperation across various fields.
