On the morning of October 15, at the headquarters of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, Mr. Lê Tiến Châu, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation, received and held a working session with H.E. Orlando Hernández Guillén, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam. Also in attendance were Mr. Lê Khắc Nam, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, along with representatives from various relevant departments and agencies.

Mr. Lê Tiến Châu, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee, and Head of the Hai Phong National Assembly Delegation, presented a gift to H.E. Ambassador Orlando Hernández Guillén.
During the meeting, Secretary Lê Tiến Châu extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Orlando Hernández Guillén and expressed his profound respect for the Cuban people and the country’s achievements. He emphasized that the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam, including those in Hai Phong, will forever cherish and acknowledge the significant support that Cuba has provided to Vietnam during its struggle for national liberation and reunification, as well as in the ongoing efforts to build and safeguard the nation. Mr. Châu expressed his firm belief that under the visionary leadership of the Cuban Party and Government, the people of Cuba will successfully overcome challenges and achieve the ambitious goals they have set.
Regarding Hai Phong’s future endeavors, Mr. Châu noted that the city and its enterprises would continue to explore and study Cuba’s policies towards foreign investment to uncover potential opportunities for business collaboration. He underscored Hai Phong’s commitment to furthering cooperation, particularly in sectors such as tourism, education, healthcare services, and other areas of mutual interest and strength.
In his remarks, Mr. Châu also acknowledged the Ambassador's personal contributions to strengthening the long-standing friendship and fostering cooperative ties between Vietnam and Cuba, particularly between Cuba’s governmental entities and Hai Phong. He expressed his sincere hope that, upon completing his tenure, Ambassador Hernández Guillén would continue to play an active role in enhancing relations between the two countries, as well as fostering stronger bilateral ties between Cuba and Hai Phong. He assured the Ambassador that Hai Phong would always extend a warm welcome, considering him a dear friend and a valued member of the city’s extended family.

In response, Ambassador Orlando Hernández Guillén expressed his deep gratitude for the valuable support provided by the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to Cuba in its efforts to build and protect the nation. He emphasized that this visit provided a timely opportunity to further discuss and advance the matters of cooperation previously outlined during the meeting in June. The Ambassador expressed solidarity with Hai Phong and other northern provinces affected by Typhoon No. 3, offering Cuba's assistance in helping the localities recover, both in terms of human resources and material aid.
Looking ahead, the Ambassador expressed his hope that Cuba would continue to attract a growing number of investment projects and business initiatives from Vietnamese companies in general, and from Hai Phong in particular, further enhancing the strategic partnership between the two parties. He also suggested that the upcoming 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba in 2025 would present an excellent opportunity for Hai Phong to actively participate in celebratory events, thereby strengthening the historical and enduring friendship between the two nations. Furthermore, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of promoting cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy, which would contribute to further deepening the bilateral relationship.
