The business environment in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular is witnessing positive prospects, becoming an attractive investment destination for foreign investors. Many FDI enterprises are having the opportunities to growth and local human resources are the key for businesses to optimize economic efficiency.
In the future, cheap labor will no longer be an important condition to attract foreign investors, but skill will be the key factor. Vietnamese workers need to improve their soft and professional skills to take advantage of opportunities to attract large foreign businesses to invest in Vietnam. Recently at a connecting conference, LiteOne Co., Ltd., specializing in manufacturing electronic components, currently has about 1,800 employees but is expected to increase to 6,000 or more next year. Therefore, it needs a support from local authorities.

The difficulties of FDI enterprises in recruiting skilled workers today include: not recruiting the desired number of personnel; Candidates do not meet the requirements for professional skills and foreign language skills, especially in a competitive recruitment market. In the future, the need for skilled human resources will increase in occupations that require training, especially in industries such as electronic components and semiconductors.
Mr. Henry Chien, Human Resources Director, Lite_On Technology Limited Company commented that “experts also believe that it is difficult for some businesses to recruit and retain skilled workers, while salaries and remuneration policies are not attractive enough”. Therefore, to attract high-quality human resources, businesses need to increase remuneration and benefits, improve the working environment and corporate culture besides the efforts of the local government in creating an attractive infrastructure for the labor.
