In celebration of the Red Flamboyant Flower Festival and the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong’s Liberation Day (May 13, 1955–2025), on the afternoon of March 19, the Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a meeting with Vietnam Railways Corporation and related agencies to discuss support for developing the “Red Flamboyant” train and organizing a food festival at Hai Phong Station.
To enhance railway tourism and enrich visitor experiences, Vietnam Railways plans to deploy 20 new coaches on the Hanoi–Hai Phong line. These stylishly designed coaches will be collectively named the “Red Flamboyant” train, with an inauguration scheduled before May 13, 2025, to coincide with the 70th liberation anniversary.
Concurrently, the Department will host the “Hai Phong Delicious Food Festival” from May 9 to 14, 2025, at Hai Phong Station (75 Luong Khanh Thien St., Ngo Quyen District). The event is expected to feature over 40 food booths showcasing Hai Phong specialties, local delicacies, and tourism gift stalls. Key activities include displays, demonstrations, and sales of signature foods and drinks, alongside vibrant street music performances.
During the meeting, Vietnam Railways CEO Hoang Gia Khanh spoke on the initiative. Hai Phong’s Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tran Thi Hoang Mai, highlighted the city’s northern Vietnam strategic location, transport infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and outstanding natural attractions, noting its growing prominence on both national and global tourism maps.
Representatives from Vietnam Railways introduced the “Red Flamboyant” train and development plans for enhancing railway tourism. The design consultancy also presented a comprehensive booth layout proposal for the food festival, timed to launch alongside the new train.
These activities aim to promote tourism, positioning it as an essential driver of Hai Phong’s local economy and social development, while attracting visitors and boosting growth.
