In order to realize the Government's dual goals, Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company had turned difficulties and challenges regarding competition in market mechanism and epidemic adverse impact into development opportunities; accelerated the deployment of e-Port to realize the aspiration of reaching out to big seas, becoming a prestigious, qualitative seaport with leading scale in the region.

Pioneering in digital transformation

On January 1, 2021, Hai Phong Port had officially launched e-Port at Tan Vu port branch, thereby providing online delivery and payment registration services for containers through Tan Vu port branch on website: https://eport.haiphongport.com.vn.

Order registration services on e-Port include orders for taking raw materials, unloading goods, emptying containers; service orders for quarantine, chemical inspection, closing and withdrawing containers; weighing orders...

Online payment methods consist of: VNPay e-wallet, domestic ATM card in which the order system accepts both prompt payment and post-payment contracts.

Hai Phong Port’s electronic service aimed at two groups of corporate customers and individual customers.

Corporate customers include delivery, logistics companies, transportation units, shipping lines and agents. Individual customers are people who perform single services on behalf of businesses to register procedures for freight forwarding at the port.

The e-Port system of the port includes two main service groups: provide freight forwarding registration services and platforms for exchanging eDO electronic forwarding order data; look up containers among shipping lines and ports.

After using e-Port services, corporate and individual customers shared common belief that it had contributed to modernizing and providing the best services to customers; enhancing service quality by applying information technology to improve delivery procedures equipped with online payment and convenient delivery in simple and prompt ways; helping to reduce direct transaction time of customers at the port; decreasing vehicle stopping time for check-in procedures as well as traffic congestion at port gates.

For Hai Phong Port, the implementation of e-Port means less direct transactions between customers and staffs at check-in counters, helping to reduce the risks of COVID-19 infection while improving the efficiency in responding and preventing the epidemic as well as ensuring safety for customers.

According to General Director of Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company Nguyen Tuong Anh, the Company would develop a plan to implement e-Port widely when its other port branches were all equipped with synchronous information technology system and proper technical infrastructure as well as information connection.

By January 18, 2022, Hai Phong Port had issued 942 e-Port accounts to customers 724 of which were corporate customer accounts, 195 were of individual customers and the remaining 23 were of shipping lines .

e-Port had shown a high efficiency in terms of output and revenue, in which in the fourth quarter of 2021, the output of lift on – lift off (LO-LO) orders on e-Port was 21,396 out of 64,615 orders in total, reaching 33.11%; the revenue of LO-LO service on e-Port accounted for 32.11% of the total LO-LO revenue...

Harmonizing benefits, sharing risks

Mr. Nguyen Tuong Anh said that Hai Phong Port had developed various effective solutions to spread customer-centered culture among all employees besides upgrading equipment, promoting digital transformation, improving procedures and creating favorable conditions for customers.

The Company’s General Director had issued "Code of Conduct", organized working sessions, talk shows, contests to disseminate information and raise awareness of employees about communication culture with customers; made continuous efforts in customer cares and gave customers the best experience when using services of the port.

Leaders at all levels regularly inspected, supervised and received feedback to promptly support and solve problems for customers; there were punishments for individuals violating the regulations as well as rewards for individuals with good performance.

During the Lunar New Year holiday in 2022, Hai Phong Port still maintained regular production activities to ensure safe, smooth receipt and exploitation of goods.

Production lines were ready for the job with vehicles, equipment and warehouses ready for the expected increase of inventory during New Year holiday.

In just 10 days of New Year holiday, the port had received and handled 50 ships in which there were 27 container ships (19 foreign ships and 8 domestic ships), 22 non-container cargo ships (02 transshipment ships in Ha Long area) and 1 RORO ship.

With the advantage of 03 large-scale loading and unloading units in Hai Phong, Hai Phong Port also actively proposed custom department to flexibly move goods and ships among port branches in case of goods backlog.

Therefore, the efficiency index of Hai Phong Port, especially Tan Vu port branch, is always among the best seaports in the world.

Recently, on February 20, Tan Vu port branch successfully picked up and unloaded 795 commercial cars on RORO ship, named Procyon Leader, from Laem Chabang (Thailand)..

Before that, the event of receiving the first millionth TEU through Tan Vu port branch in 2021 was not only meaningful to Hai Phong Port itself but also the city’s joy and pride of its prosperity and strong economic development when this was the first time a northern port had achieved 01 million TEU containers in a year, especially in the context of supply chain congestion and disruptions in many parts of the world.

Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho assessed that this special event once again affirmed Hai Phong Port’s capacity to become the most modern and strongest seaport in the northern area, promising to continuously develop and reach the value of a prestigious, quality and leading seaport in the region.

In the coming time, Hai Phong Port’s Project of Lach Huyen International Gateway, scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2022, was expected to be an ideal destination for shipping lines with the capability to receive ships of up to 100,000 DWT.

This would be a place to open up more cooperation opportunities, demonstrating Hai Phong Port’s determination to provide the best quality services for customers. The Port would always be hand in hand with partners in the spirit of "harmonizing benefits, sharing risks".
