(HPDT)- On the afternoon of November 2, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee welcomed and worked with the delegation of the Embassy of Denmark led by Mr. Troels Jakobsen, Commercial Counselor and investors on an offshore wind power project. Attending the meeting, there were leaders of the city's departments and districts.

The Embassy of Denmark and Orsted Group proposed to Hai Phong City for studying and implementing Hai Phong offshore wind power plant project. The total capacity of plant is 3,900 MW divided into 3 phases with 1,300 MW for each phase, and it will be operating respectively in 2029, 2035 and 2037; total investment for each phase is about 3.95-4.5 billion USD, the investment for whole project is up to 11.9-13.6 billion USD. The proposed research location is the offshore area in the Southeast, about 14 km from Bach Long Vi Island, about 36 km from the Northwest of Long Chau archipelagos, about 88 km from Cat Ba Island, about 76 km from Tien Lang District, about 74 km from Kien Thuy District, and about 70 km from Do Son District. The project development area is expected to be about 870 km2. The investor is a joint venture between Orsted Group (Denmark) and T&T Group (Vietnam).

Representatives of Orsted Group said that the project designed, built and operated in harmony with the existing shipping route will produce about 13.7 billion kWh of electricity annually. The investor also said that Hai Phong has great potential to become an offshore wind power center. With 30 years of experience in developing, building and operating offshore wind farms, in which, there are 7,600 MW in operation, 2,300 MW in construction, 15 GW operating in 2025 as well as 3000 full-time employees, so that investor will be capable of implementing the project in Hai Phong. Before the meeting, in September, Orsted and T&T signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the field of offshore wind power in Vietnam. Representatives of the Embassy of Denmark and Orsted - T&T joint venture hoped that Hai Phong City will allow to conduct research and survey in the expected offshore areas and promote the project implementation...

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his pleasure to welcome delegation of the Embassy of Denmark to visit and introduce the benefits of offshore wind power project in Hai Phong City. He emphasized: the project will contribute positively to the city's socio-economic development and green growth goals in national energy security strategy. He also highly appreciated the ability of Orsted Group in the field of offshore wind power development, in line with the city's view on prioritizing the development of wind power and clean energy. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho affirmed the City will pay attention and create favorable conditions for project implementation, and at the same time, he kindly requested investors to continue to supplement issues raised by departments and agencies at the meeting for completing the project, ensuring high feasibility. Along with that, it is important to continue to clarify contents related to project location, impacts on marine fairways, security and defense issues, onshore land fund, electricity master plan No.8, investment divergence... Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho assigned Department of Industry and Trade to summarize and report to the City People's Committee./.
