Creating favorable conditions for offshore wind power projects in Hai Phong

On the afternoon of August 01, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho chaired a meeting with the delegation of the Embassy of Denmark on the development of offshore wind power projects in Hai Phong City by the joint venture investors: T&T Group Joint Stock Company and Danish Orsted Group. The meeting was attended by leaders of relevant departments, agencies and sectors.

This is the third meeting among the City, the Embassy of Denmark and the joint venture investor on the offshore wind power project in the City. After the two previous meetings, the City had proposed to the Prime Minister to add the offshore wind power project in Hai Phong City to the national electricity development plan in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho highly valued the determination to implement the project of the joint venture. He suggested that investors need to comply with current regulations of Vietnamese laws without affecting navigational channels and national security during the research and implementing process. He requested investors to have specific reports on difficulties; assigned Department of Industry and Trade to be in charge of collecting and submitting opinions of relevant departments, agencies, and branches to the City. Accordingly, the city leaders would have specific instructions and consult central ministries, departments, and branches to speed up the procedures.

The City’s offshore wind power project’s capacity is expected to reach 3,900 MW, divided into 3 phases of 1300 MW operated in 2029, 2035 and 2037 with the total coverage of 870km2.
