The contest aims to celebrate the Vietnam – Laos friendship and solidarity year 2022; mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022), and 45 years since signing the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18, 1977 - July 18, 2022).

Addressing the event, Le Hai Binh, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee (PCC), Deputy Head of the PCC Commission on Popularization and Education, Deputy Head of the contest steering committee and Head of the contest organizing committee, confirmed that the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos is an invaluable asset of the two peoples. “Looking back at the 60-year history of establishing diplomatic relations, we are extremely proud to see that the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos is increasingly growing in all fields, becoming a unique model in the world,” he said.
He added that the contest is a political event of great significance in the series of activities to celebrate the Year of "Vietnam – Laos, Laos - Vietnam Solidarity and Friendship 2022”. “The organization of the contest is an important message to spread the history, friendship and special solidarity between the two Parties, States and peoples in the previous struggle for national liberation and the current cause of building socialism.
Speaking at the event, Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Sengphet Houngboungnuang welcomed and appreciated the initiative for the organization of the contest, which he said would make important contribution to increasing the understanding of Party members, cadres, armed forces and people, especially of the young generation, about the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.
According to Tran Doan Tien, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, Standing Deputy Head of the contest organizing committee, lasting until September 5, the multiple-choice contest will help teach the revolutionary tradition, to make each person, especially the young generations of the two countries, understand more deeply the special friendship and solidarity between the two countries during their processes of national liberation and socialism development. It also aims to widely and pervasively inform all classes of people in the country and overseas Vietnamese communities, and international friends about the historical significance and importance of the traditional friendly relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples.
It will focus on the special relations between Vietnam and Laos through historical periods, focusing on the period from 1962 to present; leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam - Laos through the periods; typical individuals who have made important contributions to the development of the Vietnam-Laos cooperation relationship; achievements of cooperation in all fields that the two countries have made in the renovation and development of the country and in the current period; bilateral cooperation frameworks between two Parties, two States, and two Governments; relationship between provinces and cities of Vietnam and localities of Laos; an introduction of the beauty of nature, country and people; cultural and historical traditions; and Laos' socio-economic development achievements.
All Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 14 or older are allowed to join the contest.
There will be 8 prizes each week, including one first prize worth VND3 million, 2 second prizes worth VND2 million each, and 3 third prizes worth VND1 million each./.
