Conference to implement the Government's action plan on economic diplomacy in 2023.

On the afternoon of March 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to implement the Government's action plan on economic diplomacy in 2023. Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and representatives of relevant ministries, central departments, and agencies, and at the same time, the conference was also held in the online form with the participation of Ambassadors and Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad, the People's Committees of provinces and cities, Vietnam Federation of Trade and Industry, career associations...

At the online meeting point of Hai Phong City, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung chaired the online meeting; also attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong and leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and branches.

At the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented the report on economic diplomacy in 2023 to carry out the Government's action plan to implement Directive No. 15-CT/TW dated August 10, 2022 on the people-to-people diplomacy, accordingly, economic diplomacy in 2022 was implemented drastically, methodically, effectively; promptly shifted the key tasks from the diplomacy for epidemic prevention and control to the diplomacy for socio-economic recovery and development; took people, localities and, businesses as the serving objectives. In nearly 70 external activities of the leaders of the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly in 2022, the activities of economic cooperation have been strongly promoted, and have reached many important and practical achievements with more than 150 signed cooperation documents, contributing to deepening economic cooperation with partners, effectively attracting external resources to serve the country's socio-economic recovery and development.

In the last 6 months of 2022, the Prime Minister directly chaired two important conferences with Ambassadors, heads of Vietnamese representative offices, and overseas Vietnamese commercial counselors; a conference on summarizing vaccine diplomacy and experience lessons to promote economic diplomacy in the new situation, thereby the Government identified the specific orientations and tasks for ministries, central branches, and representatives; made an important contribution to the positive results of export and investment in particular and the positive results of socio-economic development in 2022 in general.

 

The representatives of Hai Phong City People's Committee, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dutch Ambassador to Vietnam attended the handover ceremony of Tan Cang 99 at Damen Cam River Shipbuilding Co., Ltd in Hai Phong.

There were also 18 enthusiastic, responsible opinions, showing the deep understanding of leaders of ministries, branches, and localities; ambassadors, heads of oversea representative offices, representatives of business community, in the spirit of sharing and accompanying manners for the common goals of building a strong, prosperous country, and a well-being and happy people.

In concluding remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that, in general, the activities of foreign affairs and international integration have been in the right direction, being implemented comprehensively, extensively, effectively, and substantively, in which economic diplomacy, vaccine diplomacy were bright spots, along with development cooperation diplomacy to promote the digital and green transformation... In particular, the country has taken the initial steps to flexibly shift the key tasks to diplomacy for socio-economic recovery and development; therefore, economic diplomacy dramatically changed and made many important contributions.

From the achieved results, the Prime Minister requested to continue to summarize experience and lessons from each period and each stage; evaluate and review after each conference on diplomacy in general and economic diplomacy in particular to identify, solve and overcome difficulties and challenges; take advantage of positive aspects to promote comprehensive diplomacy, including economic diplomacy.

The Prime Minister also requested that in the activities of leading and directing the implementation of economic diplomacy, it is necessary to adhere the guidelines of the Party and the policies of the State, especially the spirit of Directive No.15 of the Secretariat, the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Foreign Affairs Conference, the Government's action plan on economic diplomacy; continuously promote the "bamboo diplomacy", clearly define the key activities, take national interests, and substantive efficiency as the top priorities. At the same time, he directed ministries, branches, and localities to urgently implement Directive No.15 and the Government's action plan, in association with specific orientations of socio-economic development of each ministry, branch, and locality who must make efforts for the common development and benefits of the nation, and people.
