Chinese Business Delegation Seeks Investment Cooperation Opportunities in Hai Phong

On the afternoon of August 23, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee, hosted a courtesy meeting with a delegation of Chinese business leaders led by Mr. Bang Cung Chi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of An Tin Group. The delegation visited Hai Phong to meet with the city’s leadership. Also present at the meeting were representatives from various city departments, agencies, and the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority. 
 
 Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong provided an overview of Hai Phong, highlighting the city's key attributes and development achievements.
 
Mr. Cuong expressed his sincere gratitude to Mr. Bang Cung Chi and the leadership of several large corporations and enterprises from Shenzhen for their warm hospitality extended to the Hai Phong delegation led by Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee, during their recent visit to Shenzhen. He expressed his hope that, building on the goodwill between the two sides, Mr. Bang Cung Chi would continue to support and contribute to the promotion of Chinese investment in Hai Phong in the coming years. 
 
In the meeting, Mr. Cuong also presented a commemorative gift to the Chinese business delegation. 
He further introduced Hai Phong to the delegation, emphasizing the city’s strategic location in the northern region, its well-developed infrastructure, and its interconnected transportation network linking the city to both regional and global markets. Hai Phong is home to the largest port system in the North of Vietnam. In 2023, the city achieved a Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate of 10.34%, marking the ninth consecutive year of double-digit growth. Additionally, in 2023, the city attracted USD 3.62 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and in the first half of 2024 alone, FDI reached over USD 1.5 billion. Currently, Hai Phong has 975 active foreign-invested projects with a total registered capital of nearly USD 31 billion, including 405 projects from China amounting to USD 6.14 billion. Furthermore, Hai Phong is experiencing strong growth in sectors such as tourism, culture, education, healthcare, science and technology, and social welfare…

Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong further informed the delegation that Hai Phong is actively working on establishing new industrial zones to attract additional investors, including those from China. The city is also studying the possibility of developing a South Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone, which will offer favorable conditions for projects in areas such as airports, the Nam Do Son Port, free trade zones, industrial parks, industrial clusters, and new urban developments. The city is ready to support to Chinese enterprises interesting in exploring business and investment opportunities in Hai Phong. Mr. Cuong appericiated Chinese investment ideas in sectors such as finance, industrial parks, logistics, and gastronomy, and instructed the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Planning and Investment, and the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority to assist Chinese businesses with information and procedural support to ensure the timely implementation of cooperative projects.
On behalf of the business delegation, Mr. Bang Cung Chi expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to explore investment prospects in Hai Phong. He noted that the delegation recognized Hai Phong as a highly promising market for business cooperation in various fields. The substantial Chinese investment currently in Hai Phong reflects both the city’s attractiveness to investors and the city government’s commitment to fostering foreign business partnerships. Mr. Bang Cung Chi expressed confidence that after this visit, the potential and opportunities identified would translate into specific collaborative projects, thereby contributing to mutual development.
