On the morning of January 9, Chairman of the City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung received a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Overseas Vietnamese of the Republic of Togo, led by Professor, Minister Robert Dussey, , to learn about the investment environment in Hai Phong.

Welcoming the delegation to visit and work in Hai Phong, Chairman of the City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung informed about the city's outstanding results in socio-economic development and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Hai Phong has become an attractive destination for large domestic and foreign corporations and enterprises. With a unique advantage of Lach Huyen Deep-water Port, one of the most modern and largest seaports in Vietnam, Hai Phong is increasingly affirming its role as the largest transport hub in the Northern region for import and export of goods, contributing to improving competitiveness in the logistics sector. Regarding investment attraction, in addition to Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone and 14 effectively operating industrial parks, in the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to focus on developing 20 more industrial parks with a total area of over 7,000 hectares. In particular, the city was approved by the Vietnamese Government to establish a coastal economic zone in the South of Hai Phong with an area of about 20,000 hectares - a comprehensive coastal economic zone following the green growth model, circular economy, sustainable development, with a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies; connecting with other coastal economic zones, creating development momentum for the Red River Delta. In addition, Hai Phong is also known as a land with a long-standing cultural and historical tradition; unique cuisine and famous tourist destinations. Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba archipelago of Hai Phong were recognized by UNESCO as World Natural Heritage in 2023. These are open potentials for tourism and resorts that the two sides can promote cooperation.
On behalf of the delegation, Professor Robert Dussey, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Diaspora of the Republic of Togo, thanked the city leaders for their warm welcome. Emphasizing the similarities between Hai Phong and the capital city of Lomé, Togo, both having modern deep-water ports with large cargo transport capacity, the Minister said that this is a great advantage for the two sides to find a common voice in cooperation activities, first of all in the fields of economy, trade, seaports, logistics, etc. Thereby contributing to strengthening the friendly relations, promoting cooperation, and practically moving towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Togo in 2025./.
