From July 1, the Ministry of Transport closed a runway on Tan Son Nhat airport and another on Noi Bai airport for repairing and upgrading, causing the decline of flights here. So flights at the adjacent airports will be reinforced from July 8, including Cat Bi International Airport in Haiphong.
Around this time of the year, the travel demand of passengers soars during the peak summer season. The runway repair has caused chaos for flight operation of the domestic airports. A series of flights have been delayed in a chain. And these airports have been required to increase flights to neighboring airports of Noi Bai as Cat Bi international airport (Haiphong) and Tho Xuan airport (Thanh Hoa) or Can Tho, Cam Ran airports nearing Tan Son Nhat.
Besides, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) is also demanded to promptly review and extend flights on Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports during rush hours to prevent congestion. The Flight Management Corporation will apply measures to help airport land faster./.
