An Duong District Hosts Seminar on “Sharing Experiences and Methods in Korean Language Teaching”

On the morning of February 7, at An Duong Primary School, the People’s Committee of An Duong District, in collaboration with the Department of Education of Jeollanam-do Province (South Korea), held a seminar titled “Sharing Experiences and Methods in Korean Language Teaching.” The event was attended by Ms. Do Thi Hoa – Deputy Director of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training; Mr. Luong The Quy – Standing Vice Chairman of the An Duong District People’s Committee and Member of the District Party Standing Committee; representatives of the Hai Phong Department of Foreign Affairs; professional divisions of the Department of Education and Training; and officials from An Duong District’s departments and agencies, along with schools currently implementing Korean language instruction as part of the general education curriculum in the districts of Hong Bang, Ngo Quyen, Le Chan, and Kien An.

From the Department of Education of Jeollanam-do Province, participants included Ms. Wee Hyoungshin – Director of the Training Institute under the Jeollanam-do Department of Education – and representatives from the Korean Overseas Education Office in Vietnam.

Currently, South Korea is the largest foreign investor in Hai Phong. Therefore, the expansion of Foreign Language 1 and 2 programs to include Korean – alongside English – in general education institutions is of great importance and is becoming an inevitable trend. This effort not only supports the implementation of the General Education Curriculum of the Ministry of Education and Training but also promotes cultural exchange between Vietnam and South Korea. Moreover, it helps students develop foreign language competencies, enabling them to use Korean confidently and effectively in learning and communication, while contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce to serve the city and nation’s industrialization, modernization, and international integration goals.

An Duong District holds a strategic position, hosting many industrial parks and clusters where numerous South Korean corporations and enterprises operate. The organization of this seminar contributes to strengthening cultural exchanges and enhancing the capacity of Korean language education in the district.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Vu Manh Hung – Member of the An Duong District Party Committee and Head of the An Duong District Department of Education and Training – emphasized that the seminar “Sharing Experiences and Methods in Korean Language Teaching” marks an important milestone in the district’s education sector as it continues to integrate and innovate. In today’s context of globalization, equipping students with foreign languages is no longer optional, but a necessity.

The seminar provided an opportunity for education officials and teachers in An Duong to learn directly from Korean educators and education experts about creative and practical teaching methods, solutions to existing challenges, and strategies to improve the quality of Korean language teaching and learning in schools. It also contributes to strengthening educational cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea in general, and specifically between Hai Phong City and South Korea, as well as between An Duong District and Jeollanam-do Province. The seminar lays a foundation for long-term cooperation programs, including teacher training plans and the development of Korean language education initiatives at the local level. It also aims to improve the qualifications of Korean language teachers, promote the exchange of practical experiences, and introduce innovative teaching methods, technology applications, and solutions to teaching challenges—ultimately fostering the Vietnam–Korea educational partnership, especially in Korean language instruction at general education institutions in An Duong and Hai Phong.
