At the meeting, representatives of ISAN Engineering presented the company’s capabilities and experience, as well as its proposal to explore the development of green and smart wastewater treatment infrastructure in Hai Phong. Under the initial proposal, the company seeks to work with Hai Phong Sewerage and Drainage One Member Limited Company and Korean partners to explore the construction, expansion or upgrading of the city’s wastewater treatment systems under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The proposal also envisages the application of AI and IoT technologies to water quality monitoring and management, energy efficiency and the gradual achievement of energy self-sufficiency.

During the discussions, representatives of the city’s agencies and organisations provided information on the current status and development orientation of wastewater collection and treatment systems, projects currently under implementation or planned, as well as the city’s infrastructure investment needs in the coming period. Hai Phong is currently preparing its General Master Plan covering the city’s new administrative boundaries following the recent administrative reorganisation. Once the General Master Plan is approved, the city will proceed with relevant plans for drainage and wastewater treatment, which will provide a basis for identifying investment needs, priority areas and projects. Relevant information will be shared with ISAN Engineering to facilitate further research and the development of appropriate cooperation proposals.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of developing wastewater treatment projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The city’s representatives encouraged ISAN Engineering to further study Viet Nam’s Law on Public-Private Partnership Investment and other relevant legal regulations, while further developing its proposal based on approved planning, actual needs and implementation conditions in Hai Phong. During this process, the company may continue to engage with the city’s relevant agencies and specialised units to clarify related matters and explore the feasibility of developing potential projects.

She encouraged the company to further study the information shared during the meeting and relevant provisions of Vietnamese law, while maintaining close communication with the city’s specialised agencies to gradually develop its proposal into more concrete initiatives.

The Department of Foreign Affairs will continue to facilitate connections and exchanges between the company and relevant agencies and organisations in Hai Phong, with a view to fostering practical cooperation opportunities and contributing to the gradual improvement of the city’s drainage and wastewater treatment infrastructure towards a greener, smarter and more sustainable system.
